The Junior Volunteer Program exists to encourage young people to become involved in their community and library through volunteering their time and skills. Junior Volunteer Members assist Youth Services librarians with a variety of tasks, which are designed to benefit the public. Your service will enhance existing library programs and activities, either through preparation or actual participation.
Since the lives of young adults are quite busy, you have 3 options to choose from:
1. All Year Program
This is the choice for someone without a lot of school/family obligations. You’ll be scheduled for 1 to 2 hours weekly throughout the year.
2. Summer Program
If the school year is keeping you busy, summer is the perfect time to volunteer! Register for this option in May.
3. Community Service
This is a great way to earn hours for boy scouts, confirmation, graduation, etc. You will be scheduled 2 hours a week.
Member Requirements:
*Must be in middle school or high school
*Have a parent or guardian’s permission
*Able to contribute at least 4 hours per month regularly
*Enthusiasm to be a productive part of your community
*Able to take responsibility for one’s own actions
*Likes to have fun!
If you are interested in becoming a junior volunteer to fulfill service hour requirements or just for fun, please contact the Junior Volunteer Coordinator, Angelica Soto at 795-8000 ext. 3006 or email Angelica: asoto@berwynlibrary.net.
