Basic Technology Skills

October 17th, 2017, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Work on the computer skills you need to develop with an instructor present to answer questions as needed. Learn to use the smartphone or tablet you recently acquired. Practice using the mouse or typing; search the internet; set-up or use email or Facebook; work on projects using Microsoft Office 2010 products. Sessions are drop-in, on a first-come first seated basis. Seating is limited, and we encourage you to attend only once a week in order to allow time for others. Participants are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet from home, in order to practice on their own device.

Baby Bookworms Storytime

0 - 19 months. Storytimes introduce children to the joy of books and develop their early literacy skills with fun, interactive experiences. Sessions run 45 - 60 minutes and may include stories, rhymes, songs, playtime, word play, or a simple craft.

Read For the Record: Quackers

The first 50 families will get a free copy of "Quackers", by Liz Wong!
On October 19th, 2017, people across the country will unite to read the children’s book Quackers, a quirky story about a cat who thinks he is a duck, in support of Jumpstart’s mission: to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Come pick up your copy at the Youth Services desk on Oct. 19th! While supplies last.

Basic Reading and Writing Group

This class is taught by a Project CARE tutor and registration is required. Please call 708-656-8000 ext. 2383 to register and for more information. This free class will help you improve your reading skills, build vocabulary and strengthen your writing skills.

Songs of World War I with The History Singers

The years 2017-2018 will mark the centennial of America's relatively brief but highly influential involvement in the cataclysmic First World War. Woodrow Wilson's 1916 presidential campaign slogan had been "He kept us out of the war" but when German actions became too much to ignore, the United States joined the Allies on April 6, 1917.
