"Perhaps a modern society can remain stable only by eliminating adolescence, by giving its young, from the age of ten, the skills, responsibilities, and rewards of grownups, and opportunites for action in all spheres of life. Adolescence should be a time of useful action, while book learning and scholarship should be a preoccupation of adults."

—Eric Hoffer (1902-83) American philosopher

(*)This page is still under construction.(*)

Please contact the Circulation desk, by phone or in person,

if you do not see an answer to your question.

Anything surrounded by (*) is unfinished.

If you are here, you have tried to access Your Account, and encountered a problem.  You probably...

  • Cannot log in to Your Account
  • Cannot reserve an item
  • Need help paying Your Account online

Problem: Cannot log in to My Account

"I am trying to log in to My Account, and I got this message.  What does it mean, and how can I resolve it?"

  • Sorry, the information you submitted was invalid. Please try again.

(*) This message appears if you mis-type, oh, anything in the login fields.  Try again, making sure you type your barcode and PIN correctly.  As long as you type your barcode and PIN, it doesn't seem to care if your name is all there, or even properly typed. (*)

  • PIN insertion failed. Your record is in use by system. Please try again later.

(*) Patron records can only be accessed by one computer at a time.  If library staff has your record up, that means you cannot use it, and vice versa. (*)

Problem:  Cannot reserve an item

"I am trying to request an item online, and I got this message.  What does it mean, and how can I resolve it?"

  • Sorry, request cannot be accepted. Local copy is available.

Please call the library and have a staff member set it aside for you.  Books that are on shelf at Berwyn can be held behind the Circulation desk for up to three days.

  • See library staff to place request.

(*) This can mean a couple of things; you might already have a hold on that item, or there is a stop on your account.  Accounts are stopped for several reasons, not limited to:  the card is expired, there are fines greater than the maximum amount allowed on the account, or we may need to update the address or phone number.
