Dia de los Muertos Party

Join us for a beautiful cultural experience for your children as we celebrate the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, when loved ones who have passed on are remembered. We will see traditional folklorico dancers, hear music, and learn together. Traditional Dia de los Muertos costume is welcome.

Healthcare in Retirement - Canceled

This presentation is an in-depth discussion on Health Care in Retirement. Jim Flanagan will go into detail on the different parts of Medicare: Part A (Hospital Insurance), Part B (Medical Insurance), Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans), and Part D (Prescription Plans). He will provide an in depth analysis of Medicare Supplements and the different plans that are available. Those attending will also receive an overview of long-term care insurance and the four most common strategies used to protect yourself from the high costs of long-term care.

William Pack uses storytelling and magic to go beyond the myth and bring the true story of this American icon to life. Relive Houdini's magic and escapes, hear the only known recording of his voice, and discover the remarkable story of his life and his death.

To better serve the Berwyn community, the Library underwent renovations during July and August 2016 to switch the locations of the Youth Services Department and the Audio Visual Department.
You are invited to help us celebrate and dedicate!
Join us during the Open House for special guest speaker Mayor Robert Lovero and a dedication of the new Youth Services Department by Kathi Behrendt. Enjoy performances by storyteller Oba William King and a bilingual show by Berwyn’s own Planet Circus! Several Berwyn restaurants will provide us with light refreshments.

Women Heroes of World War II: The Pacific Theater

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, join local author Kathryn Atwood as she discusses her new book, Women Heroes of World War II: The Pacific Theater. Kathryn will tell the stories of fifteen courageous women who risked their lives through their involvement in the Pacific Theater serving in dangerous roles as spies, medics, journalists, resisters, and saboteurs.

A Christmas Carol

In this storytelling lecture, William Pack first relates the curious origins behind one of the most popular stories ever written, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Then, using a script derived from Dickens’ only existing abridged reading copy, William will perform a reading of A Christmas Carol enhanced with a modern recreation of a magic lanternslide show popular during Dickens’ lifetime.
